Hello from Cyprus!!
Hej Hej!!
Just thought I would send a short message from over here in Cyprus where I am/have been with the Canadian National Team. We have been in training camp for a little over 2 weeks, beginning in Rome where we did 10 solid days of testing, training, and workouts. We then came over to Cyprus to begin our preparations for the Cyprus tournament, which we are currently 2-0. We beat Scotland our first game, and Italy the second. England is up tomorrow in our last group stage game, and a tie or a win will get us to the final on wednesday. We will definitely be going for the win tomorrow tho!
One of the very special things about our Canadian team is that off the field we are all a very close knit team. We have a lot of fun together, and there is a high level of mutual respect between the players, staff, and support staff. Something we love to do in our "free" time is to make videos. We were recently sent a short "music" video from the USA national team who is in Portugal for the Algarve Cup, so we decided to send one back. Some exciting news recently for us as well, having the 2015 Women’s World Cup being awarded to Canada! We are so excited for this; it’s a dream for sure to be able to play a world cup in front of your family, friends and biggest fans. I know for me, after watching the Inaugural 2002 U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada was something I will never forget. The team was training in Edmonton at the time, and one of the keepers got an injury so I was called in to train with them for a few days before the tournament started. That was only my second time with the National Team (15years old), and ever since, it has been my dream to not only play in a World Cup, but to play at home in that environment. Ill cross my fingers that Edmonton gets picked again as a host city, and of course keep my focus on the near future!
I will be rejoining PIF in Holland for our preseason training camp on wednesday after our final here tuesday night. I am so excited to get back with the team, and enjoy that experience with them! Its going to be such an exciting year and I am so excited for it to get underway! Its going to be a busy year for me, not only with PIF, but also with the World Cup and I promise to do my best to send messages while I am away so you can hopefully enjoy the journey with my teammates and I!
