Kanalsimmet

This year was my first year to be apart of a fun and great tradition....the Kanalsimmet! I am really thankful that my coach said yes to letting me do this.

I think that taking ice baths on a regular basis for soccer really prepared me for the temperature of the water. I actually didnt think it was cold. My ice baths are way worse. But then again it could be because of the amazing equipment that Conny let me borrow. So THANKS SO MUCH Conny!

I had such an amazing time and here is a video from start to finish of my awesome adventure!

What's Your Child Dream?

We all have dreams growing up as a kid.  I specifically remember always writing about wanting to be a professional soccer player. I knew that it would be a hard dream to achieve, but I always had a gut feeling that some how it would work out. I also had a weird obsession with my teeth growing up. And still to this day I want to become a dental Hygienist. Thinking of my future gave me a great idea.

I thought it would be funny for you to get a glimpse of what we (PIF Players) wanted to be when we grew up.  Obviously we successfully became great soccer players but what other dreams did we have, and who says that we still can't be them when we finish playing. Can you guess which PIF player is who?? Answers to the pictures are at the end of the blog.

1. "When I grew up, I wanted to be an Ice Princess"

2. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a Fireman or a flight attendant"

"

3. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a hair dresser"

4. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a vet...."doggy Dr."

5. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a PE (Gym) Teacher"

6. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a Veterinarian or a Soccer Pro"

7. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a captain of a ship"

8. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a rock star"

9. "When I grew up, I wanted to be a Police Officer"

Well Deserved 3 Points

Monday was our first game of the season against AIK! It was a typical premier game that we all expected. Many of us were nervous, some more than others. The first 15 minutes was pretty chaotic, fast pace and high intensity! We had a few great chances within those 15 minutes. After we scored our first goal the game started to calm down and that moment really set the tone for the rest of our game.

We did a very good job of sticking to the goals we have set for this 2012 season!

I don't think it was our best game. We definitely can do better and need to improve on a few things before our home opener against Gothenburg!

Anyways something that I noticed before the game started made me realize how great Pitea IF is. We walked out onto the field at AIK to shake our legs out from the plane ride and to "feel the field". This was my first impression of the arena.

This is only a small part of what I saw. This to me just shows how unorganized and unprepared this club was for the home opener of 2012. It made me realize how fortunate Pitea IF is for having such an amazing community, staff workers, volunteers and sponsors. You guys do so much for this club to make us feel professional and important! Thanks so much for your hard work! The atmosphere that we experience before games is brilliant and much appreciated.

On a lighter note....Here is a few things that might make you laugh. My goofy teammates.

My Bra Swedish Skills

Today was my presentation for Swedish class. I had to talk about my Country and my home town/state. I talked about the weather, traditions, food and important historical facts in USA.

I find Swedish very hard. The pronunciations and the rhythm of the language is quite difficult. I find myself getting very frustrated because I understand my teachers and classmates but I can't find the words quick enough to respond back!

My biggest problem with the Swedish language is that I can't "roll" my R's. Not only can I not pronounce words but I have a speech impediment as well. Not a good combo haha.

This video is my best attempt to speak Swedish

I know my Swedish friends will make fun of me but remember we didn't grow up learning Swedish from the age of 10! If my Swedish does not give you the confidence to speak to me in English, Then I don't know what will.

I hope this gives you guys a good laugh!

Enjoy!

My classmates who are asking questions have been in the class longer and are in a higher level swedish than me! They speak swedish pretty well! I hope to be there soon!

Lots of fun videos coming up this weekend and our first match of the season is on Monday vs AIK!!!

FINALLY season is here!

Whose Accent Do You Understand?

Today I was enjoying a great afternoon with friends And what now seems to be who I hang with everyday.  There are 6 of us that are so incredibly different but are joined by similar forces. I was in my own little world thinking how blessed and amazing my life and friends are. Then it hit me that all six of us are from different countries and 3 different continents. Australia (Lydia), England(Tom), Norway (Ann Mari), Iceland( Halle Berry), USA(Me) and Sweden(Robin). We even can add three more to the list who are from Finland (Anna) Nigeria (Faith) and I add Karlsson as a seperate country because she takes all of our accents and lingo and puts them together in sentences. This is a true talent of hers. So I guess we can add her to the list since she is a combo of us all! Who can say that on a daily bases you get to hang out with this much diversity and get along as well as we all do?

So really its 8 different countries...4 continents...and we are all friends!

We all have our own little lingo and different accents but that is what makes this friendship so fun. We make fun of each other at least once a day because we cant understand the other person due to there accent or weird words that they use! So we are continuously laughing and learning something new.

Who can you understand the best?

There is never a dull moment!!

A blog/video of our trip to Stockholm will be up soon!!

My New Ride...and Fotbol Skolan!

One of the things I wanted to do most here in Pitea was to ride a "spark". I think it is great to see older people riding it to and from the grocery stores. My neighbor, who is a bit older goes out and rides it just for fun to get some fresh air! Riding a "spark" is definitely normal in Pitea and it makes me laugh! I love it.

Check out my new ride!

This week was a very busy week. I had Fotboll School Monday-Wednesday. Coaching Swedes vs American children is very different! The first day we had to tell the kids it was okay to talk and laugh and to have fun. They are so shy at first. American kids are the complete opposite. We have to babysit them and continuously tell them to listen up. I get the feeling that Swedes want to learn and be at soccer camp.

The highlight of the week was playing against the boys team. I remember playing the boys at that age and girls develop much quicker than the boys. So I would like to think we gave them a pretty tough game!

Karlsson and I had a fantastic time coaching all of you. Each year gets better and better. You were a lot of fun and worked hard. Remember to always DREAM BIG!

Dance Off In Storforsen

Hi!

Wow do I love this team! Last weekend we had the opportunity to get to know each other a lot better. We had two entire days away from Pitea, in -40 degree weather and out in the middle of  no-where to bond and grow closer! And let me tell you.....the cold weather brings out the best in us!  It was such a great time to talk about what we all want in the team and to share our ideas of how this 2012 season is going to look. After a 6 hour meeting ( not joking) of discussing the important goals and visions that us players and coaches have, we had even more time to dance, eat and play games! Here is a little video that captured the great moments that I can't tell you about in words.

I hope you enjoyed that as much as we had living it! Stay tuned for next weeks video of the Pitea If girls on the runway...fashion show/project runway. Now this is something to see. Especially since 70 percent of you don't see us outside training clothes! My bet is someone will fall haha (I hope it's not me).

Have a good weekend my favorite followers! My blog is Jnoblog.com
